Team tryouts: Team tryouts will be held October 3 as the Blue and Gold Meet. Each swimmer will be able to compete in events they are interested in swimming. Coach Joe has chosen the meet events and the captains will help him choose swimmers to compete in each events. After the meet, Coach Joe will add swimmers at his discretion to the existing Varsity roster. The existing Varsity roster includes all swimmers who competed in the 2016 4A State Championship Meet. As soon as we know the start time for the meet we will email you. It will take place between 2:30-4:30pm, but the start has not been determined. Coach Joe will hold a meeting afterwards in the school cafeteria. Swimmers must complete Register My Athlete including a physical exam and pay mandatory fees before competing in tryouts.
Register My Athlete: This is the online registration system Skyline for all athletic programs. Go to Register My Athlete to begin the process.
Mandatory fees: Mandatory fees will be paid directly to Skyline once the school bookkeeper has added them to the student accounts. These fees include team participation, transportation, uniform (cap, t-shirt, jacket, suit, gear bag). The class (1A/1B) fee has already been added to the accounts. Parents can pay the fees thru the webstore or by coming into the front office. You will receive an email from the Booster Club once the mandatory fees have been added to the student accounts.
Swim suit sizes, t-shirt sizes, jacket sizes, cap: The swimmers have already turned in their swim suit sizes. We will have jackets for swimmers to try on during the 1A/1B class period today and tomorrow. There is no form to turn in for these items. Each swimmer will receive 1 latex Block S cap as part of their team uniform.
Booster Club Membership: The Booster Club supports Coach Joe and the Skyline Swim Team. We provide bus treats, Saturday breakfasts, meet timers and officials, social events, dinners, team banquet, etc. Our proposed budget spends $180 per swimmer. Please consider that when you look at the booster club membership dues. I have attached the Booster Club membership form and Booster Club Membership levels to this email. If you choose to join the Booster Club, please write your check to Skyline Swim Booster Club and turn it in with your completed form to the Booster club box in Joe’s office. We request that memberships be turned in by October 14.
Optional gear: Optional gear will be available thru an online store run by Aquaholics. The store should be live later this week and we will send you an email when it opens. Optional gear includes warmup pants to match the team jacket, sweatshirt, shorts, socks, leggings, long sleeved t-shirt, snorkel, fins, and personalized caps.
Disclosure: Coach Joe gave out a Team Disclosure and a Swim Class Disclosure at the parent meeting. I will send those documents via email as soon as he sends them to me.
Parents Volunteers: We love parent volunteers! I will send a separate email regarding volunteer opportunities later this week.
