Team tryouts: Team tryouts will be held October 3 as the Blue and Gold Meet. Each swimmer will be able to compete in events they are interested in swimming. Coach Joe has chosen the meet events and the captains will help him choose swimmers to compete in each events. After the meet, Coach Joe will add swimmers at his discretion to the existing Varsity roster. The existing Varsity roster includes all swimmers who competed in the 2016 4A State Championship Meet. As soon as we know the start time for the meet we will email you. It will take place between 2:30-4:30pm, but the start has not been determined. Coach Joe will hold a meeting afterwards in the school cafeteria. Swimmers must complete Register My Athlete including a physical exam and pay mandatory fees before competing in tryouts.

We provide bus treats, Saturday breakfasts, meet timers and officials, social events, dinners, team banquet, etc. Our proposed budget spends $180 per swimmer. Please consider that when you look at the booster club membership dues. I have attached the Booster Club membership form and Booster Club Membership levels to this email. Opportunities to Volunteer for Skyline Swimming
There are many opportunities for parents to be involved with the Skyline Swim Team. The Booster Club organizes Saturday morning breakfasts, bus treat bags for every away meet, and timers for all the home meets. Without timers we can't hold swim meets. Each family is expected to time at one meet during the season. Swimmers are always hungry, and so parents provide a snack before away meets and breakfast after Saturday practices. Reimbursement is available if requested and receipts are turned in.

How to Become an Official for High School Swimming
2016/2017 High School Swim Clinics for Officials
It is time again to schedule our High School Swim Clinics, we are excited and anticipate having a great Swim season.
Please read all this information
We all want our swimmers to have a great experience and to ensure our meets go well we need to have plenty of Swim Officials trained to run our meets. It is required that you take a clinic each year to certify as a High School Swim Official. Each clinic listed below will teach a Stroke and Turn portion (approximately 2.5 hours) and a Starter Referee portion (approximately 1 hour). Everyone must attend the stroke and turn portion of the clinic, but only those who will be a Starter or a Referee need to stay for the last portion of class. You must be at least 18 years of age and NOT a High School student to become an official. Please bring a pen, pencil and highlighter to class. Please note check in for each class will be 15-30 min prior to class start time. We need you to be on time so we can ensure you get all the information you need to be a good official.
**We will have three in water Demonstration Classes this year. One
in Park City, Ogden and Lehi. For those who are new or fairly new to the sport
or would like some more hands on training please attend one of these clinics. Also USA SWIMMING has produced new
Training Videos for each stroke, look on www.usaswimming.org,
dropdown Member services, look under officials click on Education Training,
click on new Video resources. Although we do have some differences in our rules
from USA these Video are excellent in introducing how officials should
officiate each stroke, and introduce you to the world of swimming as an
official. They also have a video on starting that is very informative. You can
also find them on You Tube; Officials Training Videos by USA Swimming, 6 videos
2015. **
Once you have completed a clinic your name will be put on the Officials
List for the 2015-16 Season and will be posted on the Web site www.utswimcoach.com with your
certification class. Coaches will run their meets from the list of certified
officials or the meet will be invalid. Please make sure all your bases are covered, that your people
attend the training they need. We have varied the dates to give four weeks of
clinic dates to choose from to try to accommodate everyone. Try to have enough
certified people to run your home meets. We will also notate those certified
officials who are willing to work outside of their team.
Cost for a Clinic is $20.00. Checks can be made payable to UHSCA
(Utah High School Coaches Association.) Payment may be made when you
check in at the start of the clinic or mailed to 2002 W 1500 N Lehi, Utah 84043.
Coaches need to make arrangements with Robyn if they are paying for all their
officials. Sorry we will not be able to
allow anyone to go through the training without
payment prior to the class starting.
If in doubt we will have you
pay, and you can work it out with your coach.
You
will need to RSVP by e-mail to the class you will be attending five days
prior to class. We need your name, school affiliation, phone # and an
e-mail address so check in will go smoothly. Each class will be
capped to ensure proper instruction. You will receive a confirmation back from
the instructor. If the class is full you will have to choose another location.
Also if you can’t attend a class you have already sent an RSVP to please e-mail
the instructor to cancel so your spot will be given to someone else. Check in
will start 15-30 min prior to
class time please check class information. Class will start promptly on the
hour. Please arrive early enough to check in and get your materials, so class
can start on time. Please NO late comers.
If you have
questions you may call or e-mail Robyn Peterson robynvpeterson@gmail.com
801-404-6994

How to sign up for Booster Club text blasts
The Booster Club has set up a text blast service for important news or updates. We are using remind.com which is a website for schools, teachers, coaches, etc to notify groups thru text blasts.
