USA Swimming Observation: I have arranged for the meet to be observed by USA Swimming Officials. If you would like any of your USA Swimmers that are currently registered observed, please send back the attached form for each swimmer with the $5/athlete observation fee. Please send these forms back to me via email by Thursday morning at 9am. I can collect money or checks made to "UTAH SWIMMING" at the meet.
Meet Schedule:
The meet will begin at 1:30pm. I have attached the timeline. There is a 20 minute break after the 50 Free. There will be sandwiches and food for officials, coaches and timers. The timeline shows us wrapping up our final event at 5:51pm
I have attached a copy of the preliminary meet program, psych sheet and timeline. New entries are closed. If there are any changes, please get them to me by 9am on Thursday. I know the nature of high school swimmers. If we can keep the changes and scratches for the meet to a minimum after 9am, that is ideal. I will plan to send a FINAL meet program out Thursday mid-morning. I will have coaches packets available at check-in with meet programs printed for you. The meet will also be published to Meet Mobile, search for "2016.12.22 GSD Champs". Encourage your parents to use Meet Mobile or refer to programs on the wall. There will be very limited paper copies for parents and spectators. If you have any questions, let me know.
Housekeeping Items:
We are bringing in bleachers (thanks Skyline!) for the athletes to be on deck. Each team will have to be very tight on deck. Please do not have athlete food on the pool deck. Please stage all athlete food in The Commons in the main OHS building. Athletes are welcome to relax and eat in this area for the duration of the meet. The access from The Commons to the pool is outside, please remind your athletes to dress appropriately.
We would ask that you help make sure we can continue to hold meets at our facility by asking your team, parents and athletes to abide by the following rules.
· No street shoes on deck. Clean deck sandals are welcome, please have your athletes put their shoes in their bag and keep them with them.
· Only meet staff, coaches and athletes are welcome on deck. We ask all spectators to not gather in the entry way but make their way to the observatory.
· Only water and Gatorade (or equivalent) will be allowed on deck. No soda or food of any kind. No glass containers.
· We ask that all athletes shower before entering the water.
We look forward to some excellent individual and team performances. Please don't hesitate to call me on my cell below.
Best,
Shawn Stringham

Fundraiser options
Under Coach Joe’s direction, the Skyline Swim Team is doing a fundraiser to earn money for bleachers for seating on the pool deck, touchpads, training equipment, and other team needs. Our goal is to earn $10,000 as a team. Coach Joe expects each swimmer to fundraise $100 for the team.
Each family has two options. You can participate in the fundraiser by providing email addresses for your swimmer which will help them earn $100. Or, you can choose not to participate in the fundraiser and donate the $100 directly to the school to be deposited in the Swim Team account.
Fundraiser: Each swimmer enters 20 emails in their fundraising account. An email is sent describing the team fundraiser and asking for donations. Any money the swimmer fundraises over $100 will count towards their St. George trip fees. For example, if Swimmer A fundraises $200 thru our email campaign, her St. George trip fees will be reduced by $100. There are also incentives if a swimmer gets donations (t-shirt, shorts, running tights, sweatshirt, sweatpants, backpack, etc. all Nike apparel). If you have siblings on the team, they can set up an account together. They should enter 40 emails.
No fundraiser: If you choose not to participate in the fundraiser, you can donate money directly to the school. Donation form. Principal Bingham has asked that all monetary donations have a completed form along with the donation check. This will ensure you receive a letter for tax-deduction purposes. The program, school, department, class, or activity is SKYLINE SWIM TEAM. Take your check and completed form to the financial secretary in the office and she will deposit the funds directly into the team account. There are no incentives or credit towards the St. George trip if you choose this option.
Fundraiser status: As of 4pm Monday, our fundraiser has earned $5,670 in 2 days. The highest individual has raised $580. Great job so far!
There are several swimmers who were not at our fundraiser meeting. These swimmers need to set up their account and get started. There are other swimmers who have not entered 20 emails yet. Please get going.

New Scoreboard!
The new scoreboard purchased by the 2015-2016 Booster Club has arrived and been installed at the pool. Many thanks to Amy Newbold, Suzanne Brooks, and Heidi Tward, for their efforts in getting the right scoreboard for our pool.
The new scoreboard is a great example of something the Booster Club provided to the Swim Team. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining the Booster Club to support our swimmers.
Remember, memberships should be turned in by Friday, October 14, so that banners and yard signs can be printed and hung before our first home meet.

Oct 1 update - tryouts, parent Q&A, Team hangout
The Skyline Swim Team Tryouts/Blue and Gold Meet is coming up on Monday, October 3, at 3:15pm. Parents and friends are welcome and encouraged to come cheer on the swimmers. This meet is an opportunity for friendly competition between teammates and is also a chance for the coaches to evaluate swimmers on their times and events. The times from this meet will not count towards qualification for the region or state meets. Coach Joe will announce the Varsity team after the meet is over.
There will be a Parent and Swimmer Question and Answer session after the Blue and Gold Meet from 5-5:30pm in the north end of the Skyline cafeteria. It is optional and you do not need to attend if you don’t have any questions. Swimmers do not need to attend unless they have questions. Coach Joe will be leaving at 5:30pm to go coach Eagle Aquatic Team practice.
You should have already turned in your swimmer physical exam and consent forms, completed Register My Athlete online, and paid your student mandatory fees before tryouts on Monday.
You can turn in your Booster Club Membership on Monday at the Blue and Gold Meet. We will also have signups available for meet timing, officials, breakfasts, bus treats, banquet, etc.
